The Hospice Charity Shop on the corner of Market and Long Street in Knysna is the focal point of Hospice activity in the eyes of many of the community.
Founded some ten years ago, the shop has been a remarkably reliable source of income. Run by a team of loyal volunteers, we receive a myriad of wonderful donations from our generous supporters. These donations include clothes, household and electrical goods, books – just about anything!

The shop has been going since November 2000 and right from the beginning it surprised everyone by how well it did. We moved to more spacious premises in March 2011 which allowed us to properly organise and display our donated merchandise to its best advantage.
We have 46 enthusiastic volunteers who contribute to the efficient running of the shop. Many of them have been part of the staff since it opened and they are all pleased to help raise funds for the important nursing function of palliative care that is provided by Sister Henriette and her team.
Other funds are raised by means of a number of cake sales, tin collections, raffles and our very popular and well-attended annual auction which will be on Saturday 28 September. Sedgefield is a close-knit caring community that rallies around to support good causes and we are grateful for the many ways in which they show their generosity towards Hospice.
