The Opportunity
Knysna Sedgefield Hospice is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next chapter.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for providing strategic direction, operational oversight and inspirational leadership to ensure the long-term sustainability and impact of the hospice. The CEO will work closely with the Board, staff, volunteers, donors and partners to strengthen services, grow resources and uphold our values of compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer will:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision aligned with the hospice’s mission and values
- Ensure high-quality, sustainable palliative care services
- Lead and support the senior management team and wider staff complement
- Build strong relationships with funders, donors, healthcare partners and the broader community
- Oversee financial management, fundraising strategy and organisational sustainability
- Ensure effective governance, compliance and risk management
- Act as an ambassador for Knysna Sedgefield Hospice locally, regionally and nationally
Person Profile
We are looking for a leader who brings:
- Proven senior leadership experience (CEO, Executive Director, or equivalent)
- Strong strategic, financial and operational management capability
- Experience in healthcare, hospice, NGO, NPO or community-based organisations (highly desirable)
- A values-driven, compassionate leadership style
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- The ability to inspire trust, collaboration and accountability
