|Knysna Sedgefield Hospice gratefully received a total grant of R720, 000 from The National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF) towards sustaining their Integrated Community-based Home Care Programme.R700, 000 towards operational costs and R20, 000 towards the purchase of a patient carrier and to do home visits.
Our volunteer vehicle fleet manager, Tony Lyons Lewis guided the research into suitability of the vehicle and with careful consideration it became evident that it would be more cost effective to sell a car from our aging fleet whilst simultaneously purchasing two new vehicles. Hence NLDTF funds covered the cost of a patient carrier, a Toyota Avanza, and also contributed to the purchase of a Toyota Etios. With pride, Hospice has ensured that both vehicles carry the NLDTF logo.
The NLDTF places emphasis on areas of greatest need and greatest potential, so that all South Africans can gain from and contribute to South African development.
Hospice has a service delivery team consisting of a doctor, nurses, social workers and community care workers who provide free of charge palliative home based care to the communities of Hoekwil, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna and all inland settlements covering 1,175 square kilometers.
A heartfelt Thank you to NLDTF, Tony and Knysna Toyota for your support in facilitating the process of upgrading our fleet.
