Mandela Day 2024

Want to make the world a better place?
We invite you to join hands with us at Knysna Sedgefield Hospice to donate winter goods for our most vulnerable patients this Mandela Day.

By giving a little of your time each day to making a change that’s close to your heart or by giving a little of your time to make a difference to the life of someone else, you can start changing the world around you.

We supply essential toiletries, food and other items to our patients and their families that are in dire need. We do this because palliative care is not just about pain and symptom management, but about dignity and quality of life. If you would like to join us; the following would make a great difference to some of our patients this winter:

  • A Dressing gown, a pair of slippers, pajamas or a jersey
  • Towels (preferably dark colours), a face cloth
  • A warm blanket
  • Underwear for school going children
  • Frozen prepared meals

Drop the items off at our offices throughout the month of July or bring them on Thursday the 18th of July.

You can also choose to DONATE any amount (via Card or you can EFT, ref NM+Your Name) to cover the cost /or some of the cost of the items listed – we’ll be sure to distribute them on your behalf. All donations are tax deductible and eligible for BEE Points.

Mandela Day is a wonderful moment in the year to commemorate and celebrate the life and legacy of the great Nelson Mandela. As we move forwards into new frontiers of service, we will continue to reflect on and be inspired by his legacy.

It’s a time for us to stand alongside one another as “It is still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity”. We hope you’ll get involved!
