Twinning is a formal or informal agreement between 2 organisations to work together to develop friendship links; exchange experiences, knowledge and skills; and develop mutual understanding, tolerance and respect.
The idea of twinning originated after World War 1 and increased substantially after WW2 with the need for countries to work towards peace and reconcilliation. In the hospice context it was established in an effort to foster mutually beneficial relationships by promoting idea-sharing, educational opportunities, and professional exchanges between South African and hospices abroad.
Our twin is DeKalb County Hospice and their web link is www.dekalbcountyhospice.org . |
