SA BALLET COMPANY
BALLET DELIGHTS, featuring 10 dancers from the South African Ballet Theatre, will be performed on 30 September (at 15h00 and 19h00) and 1 October (at 15h00) in the NG Church Hall in Fichat Street, Knysna.
The programme includes The Sleeping Beauty pas de deux, Cavalleria Rusticana pas de deux, Total Eclipse of the Heart pas de deux, three La Traviata pas de deux and Lakmé pas de deux.

Tickets range from R50 to R125.
You can join the dancers on Sunday 2nd October on a sunset paddle cruise from 18h00 to 20h00. The cost is R175 per person. Hot and cold canapés are included in the price of the ticket. There will be a full cash bar. Bookings at Gastronomica.

KAREN BEUKES
Karen was born in South Africa and began dancing at the age of three. She trained at the Johannesburg Arts School and in 1990 represented South Africa at the Adeline Genée Competition in London. In 1991 she joined PACT Ballet, won the Madge Cade Award for the most promising aspirant dancer and achieved principal dancer status. She is one of the six founder members of the South African Ballet Theatre, a member of its Executive Committee and Board, a principal dancer and ballet mistress.
ANYA CARSTENS
Anya was born in Johannesburg and started dancing at the age of five with Sandra Carstens, completing her training at the National School of Arts. In 1994 she joined PACT Ballet and rose through the ranks to senior soloist. She is a principal dancer with the South African Ballet Theatre and in 2003 danced at the USA International Ballet Gala.
ADMILL KUYLER
Admill was born in Stellenbosch and trained with Joy Cooper at Pro Arte in Pretoria. He danced the role of James in the Johannesburg Youth Ballet's 2001 production of La Sylphide. He joined the South African Ballet Theatre in 2001, was promoted to the senior corps de ballet in 2003 and to soloist in 2004.
IAIN MACDONALD
Iain was born in Johannesburg, joined PACT Ballet in 1991 and reached the rank of principal dancer. Guest performances have taken him to Copenhagen and Taiwan. In 2001 he was one of the founding members of the South African Ballet Theatre, and is a member of its Executive Committee and Board, a principal dancer and ballet master.
ANGELA MALAN
Angela was born in Johannesburg and studied with Lynne Fouché as well as at Pro Arte in Pretoria and the National School of Arts in Johannesburg. At the age of 16 she took up scholarships at the Scuola de Danza in Florence (Italy) and at the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto. She joined the ranks of the National Ballet of Canada and stayed there for five years.
On her return to South Africa in 1994 she joined PACT Ballet and became a principal dancer of the State Theatre Ballet in 1998. In 2000 she joined the Royal Danish Ballet on a tour to Brazil and danced with the New York City Ballet star, Nikolaj Hubbe. She is a founder member of the South African Ballet Theatre, is on its Executive Committee, is a principal dancer and rehearsal director for the company.
LAURYN SUMMERLEY
Lauryn was born in Johannesburg and trained with Lynne Fouché, Gail Myburgh and at the English National Ballet School in London. She joined the South African Ballet Theatre in 2002 and was promoted to the senior corps de ballet in 2003.
ANDRIES WEIDEMANN
Andries was born in Pretoria and studied ballet at Pro Arte and with Paula Olivier. In 1994 he joined the State Theatre Ballet and was taken into the corps de ballet in 1995. After the closure of the company in 2000 he danced with Cape Town City Ballet and then joined the South African Ballet Theatre as a principal dancer. He became the administrator of the newly established SABT School in 2002.
